Geckoss Inc ("Geckoss,” "we” or "us”) is a social networking platform that allows users to connect and share information with each other. At Geckoss we care a lot about privacy and are committed to protect and respect the personal information of our users.

We have written this Privacy Policy to explain the information we collect, how we use it and the controls we give you to access, update, and delete your information.

It’s important that you read the entire policy, but here’s are some points that we want to summarize:

  • Any data we collect is used primarily to provide our services.

  • We don’t sell your data. Our business is based on subscriptions, paid products and in-app purchases.

  • We give you control. We give you the ability to control your privacy on Geckoss.

  • Respecting your privacy is a key part of our mission.

The Information We Collect

We collect certain information when you use Geckoss. This includes information you provide to us and information we collect automatically.


Information You Provide

  • Account information. When you use our services we collect the information that you choose to share with us. For example, when you create an account with Geckoss, you give us your email address, a unique username, password, phone number or date of birth. We may also ask you to provide us with some additional information that will be publicly visible on our services, such as a profile picture.

  • Contacts. Geckoss can optionally discover which contacts in your address book are Geckoss users and determine which of your contacts are registered.

  • Chat Messages. Geckoss cannot decrypt or access the content of your chat messages including picutres, files, video and locations that are using end-to-end encryption unless users report them to us for review. By default all chat messages are sent using end-to-end encryption but users may choose to remove end-to-end encryption and send the chat messages in plain text.

  • Social Content you submit. We collect the social content you submit to the Services. This includes your posts and posts comments including audio and videos you broadcast and your reports and other communications with moderators and with us. Your content may include text, links, images, gifs, locations, audio, and videos.

  • Purchase information Some services, such as commerce products, may require you to provide us with a debit or credit card number and its associated account information.

  • Actions you take. We collect information about your use of and activities on the services. This includes the friends you add, the servers or other communities you join, your roles in servers, content moderation decisions you make, and other related actions.

  • Location Information. In order to provide you with When you use our services we may collect information about your location. With your permission, we may also collect information about your precise location using methods that include GPS, wireless networks, cell towers, Wi-Fi access points, and other sensors, such as gyroscopes, accelerometers, and compasses.

Information we collect automatically

  • Device Information. We collect information about the device you are using to access the services. This includes information like your IP address, operating system information, browser information, and information about your device settings, such as your microphone and/or camera.

  • Information about your use of the apps or websites. We collect log and event information related to how and when you use our services (such as the pages, servers, and channels you visit).

We may receive information from cookies (small text files placed on your computer or device) and similar technologies. First-party cookies are placed by us (and our third-party service providers) and allow you to use the services and to help us analyze and improve your experience and the services. You can control cookies as described in the “How to control your privacy” section below. The services use the following types of cookies:

  • Strictly Necessary Cookies. These are required for services to function. If you try to use tools to disable these cookies, parts of the services may not work properly.

  • Basic interactions & functionalities Cookies. These help us provide enhanced functionality on the services like remembering language preferences. Disabling these could affect some service functionality.

  • Experience enhancement Cookies. These cookies also allow for more personalized content and features, such as recommended products or articles based on a user's browsing history. Additionally, these cookies may be used to optimize the performance of a website, such as by reducing page load times or improving the functionality of certain features. Overall, experience enhancement cookies are aimed at making the user's experience on a website more efficient, convenient and enjoyable.

  • Measurement Cookies. Measurement cookies are used to gather information about how users interact with a website. This can include which pages are visited, how long a user stays on the website, and how they navigate through the site. The data collected through measurement cookies is used to analyze website performance and make improvements. This can include optimizing website design and layout, identifying which features are popular, and understanding user behavior. This type of cookie is typically used in conjunction with analytics software or services to provide website owners with detailed reports on website usage. This can help website owners make data-driven decisions to improve the user experience and overall performance of their website.

How We Use Information


We use your information to improve our services, better understand how you use our service, customize your experience and prevent abuse. For example, we use information to:

  • develop, operate, improve, deliver, maintain, and protect our products and services.

  • analyze and understand our audience, improve our service (including our user interface experiences) and optimize content selection, recommendation algorithms and delivery.

  • send you communications, including by email. For example, we may use email to respond to support inquiries or to share information about our products, services, and promotional offers that we think may interest you.

  • enhance the safety and security of our products and services.

  • verify your identity and prevent fraud or other unauthorized or illegal activity.

  • use information we’ve collected from cookies and other technology to enhance our services and your experience with them.

  • enforce our Terms of Service and other usage policies.

How We Share Information

We may share information about you in the following ways:

  • When you submit content (including a post, comment, location, or broadcast) to a public part of the Services, any visitors to and users of our Services will be able to see that content, the username and Geckoss Id associated with the content, and the date and time you originally submitted the content.

  • With your consent, after letting you know what information will be shared, and with whom.

  • To third parties helping us offer and improve our service, such as those providing technical tools and analytics services that help us understand how people use our services so we can make it better. We require those companies to observe the limitations in this privacy policy.

  • Communauty Safety. We make every effort to ensure that Geckoss is a secure, positive and inclusive platform. To achieve this, we use your information to monitor and take action against users and content that violate our terms of service, community guidelines and other policies. This includes addressing user reports, identifying fraud and malware, and proactively inspecting attachments and other content for illegal or harmful content. Additionally, we use certain information, such as reported content and public posts, to improve our systems and models for more efficiently detecting, categorizing and taking action against prohibited content or conduct.

  • If we sell, transfer or otherwise share some or all of our assets, including the information identified in this privacy policy, in connection with a merger, acquisition, reorganization or sale of assets in the event of a bankruptcy. We may also share non-personally identifiable, non-aggregate information (for example, anonymized Advertising IDs) with companies that help us improve our products and services, including advertising (such as research companies and analytics providers). As with your personally identifiable information, we require that such companies observe the limitations in this privacy policy.

  • To comply with the law. We may share information in response to a request for information if we believe disclosure is required by law, including meeting national security or law enforcement requirements. Where allowed and feasible, we will attempt to provide you with prior notice before disclosing your information in response to such a request. Our Transparency Report has additional information about how we respond to requests from governments and law enforcement entities.
We may disclose aggregate information about how our users use our services in a manner that doesn’t identify you individually.


Third-Party Content and Integrations


Our services may also contain third-party links and search results, include third-party integrations, or offer a co-branded or third-party-branded service. Through these links, third-party integrations, and co-branded or third-party-branded services, you may be providing information (including personal information) directly to the third party, us, or both. You acknowledge and agree that we are not responsible for how those third parties collect or use your information. As always, we encourage you to review the privacy policies of every third-party service that you visit or use, including those third parties you interact with through our services.



How Long We Keep Your Information


Our services lets you share posts with your friends. These posts will be automatically deleted by default from our servers after 48 hours. For detailed information about how long we store different types of content, check out our Support Site.
We store other information for longer periods of time. For example:

  • We store your basic account information—like your username and email address until you ask us to delete them.
  • We’re constantly collecting and updating information about the things you might like and dislike, so we can provide you with more relevant content. Go here to learn more.

If you ever decide to stop using our services, you can just ask us to delete your account. We’ll also delete most of the information we’ve collected about you after you’ve been inactive for a while—but don’t worry, we’ll try to contact you first!

Keep in mind that, while our systems are designed to carry out our deletion practices automatically, we cannot promise that deletion will occur within a specific timeframe. There may be legal requirements to store your data and we may need to suspend those deletion practices if we receive valid legal process asking us to preserve content or if we receive reports of abuse or other Terms of Service violations. Finally, we may also retain certain information in backup for a limited period of time or as required by law.


Control over Your Information


Our services supports data privacy rights and is happy to provide our users with the following options:

  • Change or Correct Data: You can edit some of your personal data through your account, or, if you need help, you can contact our services Support and we may be able to change or correct your data in certain cases, particularly if it’s inaccurate or out of date.
  • Erase or Delete Data: You can erase your personal data by deleting your account. Alternatively, you can ask us to erase all or some of your personal data.
  • Object to or Restrict Use of Data: You can ask us to stop using all or some of your personal data (e.g., if we have no legal right to use it) or limit our use of it (e.g., if your personal data is inaccurate).
  • Access or Copy Data: You can ask us for a copy of your personal data.
    You can learn more about these options, or submit a request, by contacting Geckoss Support through your Geckoss Settings. For security, privacy, or operational reasons, Geckoss may only respond to valid requests when required by law or regulation.


State and Region Specific Information


If you’re a user in the European Union, you should know that Geckoss Inc. is the controller of your personal information.


Your right to object

You have the right to object to our use of your information. With many types of data, we’ve provided you with the ability to simply delete it if you don’t want us processing it anymore. For other types of data, we’ve given you the ability to stop the use of your data by disabling the feature altogether. You can do these things in the app. If there are other types of information you don’t agree with us processing, you can contact us.


International Data Transfers


As a U.S based company, we store and use personal data outside the EU.  To ensure adequate protection of personal data in cross-border transfer and/or processing, we use appropriate safeguards as allowed under applicable law or regulation.


Children


Our services are not intended for—and we don’t direct them to—anyone under 13. And that’s why we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. In addition, we may limit how we collect, use, and store some of the information of EU users between 13 and 16. In some cases, this means we will be unable to provide certain functionality to these users. If we need to rely on consent as a legal basis for processing your information and your country requires consent from a parent, we may require your parent’s consent before we collect and use that information.


Revisions to the Privacy Policy


We may change this Privacy Policy from time to time. But when we do, we’ll let you know one way or another. Sometimes, we’ll let you know by revising the date at the top of the Privacy Policy that’s available on our website and mobile application. Other times, we may provide you with additional notice (such as adding a statement to our websites’ homepages or providing you with an in-app notification).
